"The Sun" reported that Manchester United youth academy youngster Shia Lacey may get a first-team opportunity during the African Cup of Nations.
Amorim has previously stated that Manchester United will face a shortage of manpower when Amad, Mbemo and Mazrawi travel to the African Cup of Nations in December. Lacey's best position is the right attacking midfielder. He is currently training regularly with the first team and made his debut in the pre-season Asian tour.
The 18-year-old hit the headlines again this week, scoring a stunning goal in a 2-0 win over Notts County in the English Championship. The Liverpool-born teenager appears to have completely put the injury issues that have plagued his development over the past two years behind him, with first-team football on the horizon.
Manchester United will not rush to let him debut in the Premier League, but Lacey may play a rotation role in the lineup during the African Cup of Nations from December 21 to January 18. Since this season they only participate in the FA Cup starting from the third round draw in January, Manchester United youth training students have limited opportunities to play in the first team.
Last month, on the eve of England's friendly win over Wales, Lacey was one of a number of young players invited to train with the England senior team coached by Tuchel.
