As an owner who has raised a pet dog, I have always believed that I have learned a lot about raising dogs. The editor below will tell you why dogs get acute encephalitis? What are the reasons? If you are interested, let’s take a look!
1. Viral infection
If the dog has not been vaccinated or is not fully immunized, it is easy to be infected with canine distemper, rabies and other viruses, and then be infected with encephalitis. Therefore, it is recommended that owners vaccinate their dogs regularly. Usually, dogs can be vaccinated when they are about 45 days old and in good health. The first vaccination requires three shots of combined vaccine and one shot of rabies vaccine, and then one shot each year.
2. Parasitic infection
If the owner does not deworm the dog for a long time, the larvae of certain parasites may enter the brain tissue during the migration process, which will cause parasitic encephalitis. The main symptoms include the dog hitting its head on the ground, walking in circles and other symptoms. In this case, you need to take the dog to the pet hospital for surgical treatment in time. The worms will be removed through surgery and anti-infection treatment will be done.
3. Bacterial and fungal infections
Bacterial and fungal infections invade the brain through blood migration and cause acute encephalitis, causing the dog to suffer from general weakness, unsteady standing, uncoordinated limbs, vomiting, fever, spinning, convulsions and other symptoms. All the owner needs to do is to rush the dog to the nearest pet hospital or veterinary station for examination and then treatment.
