In addition, as part of the "Smart Country 2.0" vision, Singapore has also developed a number of AI products in the public service field, covering aspects such as homeland security, health care, education and sustainable development.

Yan Jinyong said that my country launched the National AI Strategy 2.0 two years ago, and believed that as long as the appropriate capabilities are established between enterprises and labor, it can open up new frontiers of economic growth by using AI.

Yan Jinyong pointed out that at present, large enterprises generally adopt artificial intelligence earlier and more actively than small and medium-sized enterprises. According to last year's Singapore Digital Economy Report, the AI adoption rate of large enterprises has more than doubled from about 17% in 2018 to 44% in 2023; but in comparison, the AI adoption rate of small and medium-sized enterprises has only risen from 3.5% to 4.2%.

To date, more than 25 large companies have set up AI Centres of Excellence in Singapore, including American Express, Grab, Oracle and Prudential to drive pioneering AI solutions.

Yan Jinyong said that while continuously promoting AI innovation, it is also necessary to ensure that the benefits of AI can be widely shared. "This requires us to promote institutionalis AI application, localize AI models and solutions, and specialize in the AI skills of the workforce."

"Although the AI adoption rate of SMEs is still low, it is encouraging that more than 90% of large and SMEs using AI say AI improves productivity and optimizes processes. We must increase efforts, especially to help SMEs better use and benefit from AI."

Today, Singapore has made good progress in promoting local AI innovation. In addition to more than 25 companies have set up AI Excellence Centers, "We have also set up AI Excellence Centers for manufacturing to support the industry in developing AI-driven solutions in some common application scenarios, such as predictive maintenance and production, or component design."

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Industry Yan Jinyong made the above sharing when he attended the NCS Impact Forum on Thursday (July 10).

Enshixun (NCS), an information technology service company under Singtel, plans to invest RMB 130 million in the next three years to support its customers in large-scale use of AI through independent research and development tools and methodologies.

In addition to the support measures such as the "Generated AI Playbook for Enterprises" launched by the Bureau of Investment and Media, Yan Jinyong said that industry-leading companies such as Enshixun (NCS) can also accelerate the implementation of AI.
