Kevin De Bruyne (34 years old) will undergo surgery in Belgium for a torn hamstring in his right leg. According to information obtained by this newspaper, multiple people familiar with the matter revealed that the operation will be performed in Antwerp tomorrow, and the postoperative recovery period is expected to be three to five months.

After the medical announcement confirmed that the right thigh was severely torn, the medical team immediately conducted emergency consultations on the treatment plan. There are two options for treating hamstring injuries: allowing the injury to heal naturally through rest, recovery and strength training (the option chosen by Romelu Lukaku), or surgically repairing the tear.

According to this newspaper’s confirmation, De Bruyne finally decided to undergo surgery. Multiple sources pointed out that the surgery will be performed at the AZ Monica Hospital in Dene, Belgium.

After the operation, De Bruyne will recover at the Move to Cure clinic of top rehabilitation specialist Levin-Maerschalk. Napoli maintains good communication with De Bruyne's Belgian rehabilitation team, which has also been responsible for Lukaku's recovery treatment in recent months.

The recovery cycle is expected to last three to five months. For veteran De Bruyne, who has suffered injuries to the same part, the actual recovery period may be longer. This means that he will definitely miss the Champions League matches and about half of the Serie A matches.

In the summer of 2023, he underwent surgery on the same area and left severe scars. He was sidelined for more than four months at that time - becoming the longest injury break in his career so far.

This injury undoubtedly adds to the haze. De Bruyne was originally determined to prove that Manchester City gave up on him too early in Serie A (otherwise he would have chosen to go to the Middle East to seek gold), and planned to join hands with his friend Lukaku in Naples to prepare for the World Cup. Now the plan is forced to adjust. De Bruyne and Lukaku have yet to get the opportunity to play side by side in any official game in Naples.

According to the "Morning News" that closely follows the Naples team, De Bruyne has made a solemn promise to the club: "I will return to my former self." He communicated with chairman De Laurentiis and promised that he would return to the game with the same determination as two years ago. He is said to be convinced that surgery is the most appropriate option at the moment.

In last Saturday's Italian focus match between Naples and Inter Milan, De Bruyne scored a penalty kick about half an hour into the game, but his joy was fleeting - he immediately hugged his thighs with a painful expression.
