Cats usually will not go into heat again after sterilization. Because the sterilization operation of a female cat removes the cat's uterus and ovaries at the same time, while the castration operation of a male cat directly removes the cat's testicles. Whether for the female cat or male cat, these organs are the main parts of the cat's usual secretion of sex hormones. Therefore, as long as the operation is successful, the cat generally has no possibility of secondary estrus. However, although the cat has undergone sterilization or castration surgery, the sex hormone levels in the cat's body have not completely decreased in the short term. This part of the sex hormone takes half a month to one month to metabolize. After the metabolism is complete, the cat generally does not have secondary estrus.
If the cat still has estrus after undergoing sterilization or castration surgery for a period of time, there are three reasons:
1. The sterilization surgery of the female cat does not completely remove the ovary or uterus, and the removal is not clean. The growth ability of the uterus and ovaries is very strong. If the uterus or ovaries are simply ligated, the remaining part will rely on the blood vessels of the parabranch to grow rapidly. In this case, cats may have secondary estrus.
2. The male cat has cryptorchidism, but cryptorchidism has not been removed. It is actually very easy to detect male cat cryptorchidism. When you find that male cats only have one testicle, most of them can be diagnosed with cryptorchidism. The other testicle may be subcutaneous or in its abdominal cavity. This can only be confirmed by performing B-ultrasound. As long as the second surgery is removed, the cat will not be in estrus again.
3. Caused by gland abnormalities. All hormones in animals are secreted by different glands. If the glands are abnormal, it will lead to the secretion of sex hormones and re-estimation. This requires professional examination to confirm the diagnosis.
